Another piece of the Road2Work Project jigsaw, delivered by The People Matter Trust in Eastbourne, fell into place recently when they held our first jobs fair of the autumn at Lewes Town Hall in East Sussex.
They were delighted to welcome to that event several of the employers who they are working closely with on their CABWI funded initiative - including, importantly, Balfour Beatty, the contractor that heads up the county's roadworks supply chain.
Alongside them were Drainline and Thorne civil engineering. Large local employer, Lewes Prison, was also represented both in terms of potential candidates for Road2Work and as an employer in their own right .
The event attracted over 100 attendees who are now being assessed to identify those that best fit the project profile. Encouragingly, one in four attendees expressed an interest in the opportunities provided by the Road2Work employers. The fairs are important for job matching, allowing employers to meet potential candidates, and vice versa, at an early stage,
Their next much bigger recruitment event is at Eastbourne in November, when they expect to be joined by four further supportive employers in Kier, ETMS, Roadways and Trenchline.
